Our logo is used to signpost the public to the Drinkaware website, where they can find information and advice about alcohol, learn about its impact on their health and wellbeing and get support to reduce their drinking.

Why use the Drinkaware logo?

Use of the logo is a widely recognised way of demonstrating an organisation's commitment to reducing alcohol related harm and promoting the UK Chief Medical Officers' (CMOs) low risk drinking guidelines.

The Drinkaware logo and branding is seen far and wide across the UK, with hundreds of companies demonstrating their commitment and a 2021 UK Market Review by Portman Group finding signposting to Drinkaware appearing on 9 out of 10 products sampled.

In the past year, more than six million people have accessed our information and advice. We are recognised by by consumers, Government and partners as a leading source of information regarding alcohol harm.

Who can use the logo and how much does it cost?

The Drinkaware logo is protected by a registered trademark and there is a charge for entering into a licence agreement. Without the relevant agreement, we do not permit companies to use our logo.

The cost of using the Drinkaware logo varies depending on the size and type of your organisation, and whether your turnover from alcohol sales in the UK is above or below £2.5m per year (after duty, before VAT).

What does the agreement include?
With a valid agreement, you can use our logo and branding across all your labelling, packaging, website, social media and marketing collateral. If you have multiple brands in your portfolio, you can use the logo across all of your brands.

Terms and conditions of using the Drinkaware logo
Our logo is a registered trademark, therefore any organisation that wishes to refer to Drinkaware, or the Drinkaware website, must obtain prior consent from us by entering into a Trademark Licence Agreement.

Use of the Drinkaware logo is voluntary but is considered best practice by Government, major trade associations and the wider industry.

We will only enter into a Trademark Licence Agreement with organisations that:
1. Promote the Chief Medical Officers' (CMOs) low risk drinking guidelines
2. Comply with The Portman Group and Advertising Standards Authority codes of practice, which govern the packaging and promotion of alcohol in the UK

Drinkaware expects its licence holders to use the logo in compliance with the law and voluntary codes. The Drinkaware logo is a prompt for consumers and is not intended to endorse products or brands.

Drinkaware reserves the right to withdraw use of its logo at any time. Please note that we cannot accept logo requests from third parties. If you are a marketing agency or consultancy working on behalf of a client for example, the company concerned will need to contact Drinkaware directly.

How can’t the Drinkaware logo be used?
The Drinkaware logo cannot be displayed on:
1. Promotions that encourage consumption above the CMOs' low risk guidelines
2. Imagery or materials that promote the desirability or acceptability of drunkenness
3. Lobbying materials to change alcohol policy
